Icefields Parkway Tour Between Banff or Lake Louise and Jasper

Your tour guide will pick you up from the location of your choice in Banff, Lake Louise, or Jasper as this tour can travel in either direction. Please bring your luggage with you as this is a one-way tour. The Icefields Parkway is known as one of the world’s most scenic drives so you don’t need to venture far from the main highway to see some spectacular sights.

From May to October, the tour will have many scenic photo stops along the route to Jasper including Bow Lake, Peyto Lake, Crowfoot Glacier, and Athabasca Falls. A recommended add-on is a stop at the Columbia Icefields(between May 6 and October 9) will allow you to climb aboard an Ice Explorer—a specialized bus that travels directly onto the Athabasca Glacier. Further up the Parkway, take a walk on the Icefield Skywalk, a one-kilometer interpretive walk that leads to a suspended, glass platform that extends out over the valley below.

From December to March, the Icefields Parkway sees much less traffic and turns into a beautiful drive of solitude and wonder. The roadside stops feature endless views of snow-capped mountains and ancient glaciers that make it a true winter wonderland. During this time, you’ll have stops along the way at Bow Lake, the Athabasca Glacier, and Athabasca Falls.

Day Tour from Banff/Lake Louise to Jasper Itinerary

Your full-day private tour starts in Banff, Lake Louise, or Jasper and is the perfect addition for those who are already staying in either location and require connecting transportation between these Rocky Mountain towns and wish to make a day out of it. This is a particularly great option for those who are connecting a Rocky Mountaineer train trip with a VIA Rail train trip.

Along the Icefields Parkway, you’ll make photo stops at scenic locations and have a high likelihood of seeing wildlife along the side of the highway, ranging from bears to elk, big horn sheep, mountain goats, moose, wolves and more.

*While on the Icefields Parkway, we suggest including the optional Ice Explorer Bus ride onto the Glacier and Glass Floor Skywalk if you are not in a rush to get to your final destination for the day as this stop can take up to four hours to complete on busy days.

At the end of your tour, your guide will drop you off in Jasper if you started from Banff or Lake Louise, or in Banff or Lake Louise if you started in Jasper.
